Support us by becoming a Friend of Museums Sheffield
|
Since it was established in 1998, Museums Sheffield has enjoyed the support of its loyal and enthusiastic members. Over 1,000 Friends based in and around Sheffield have taken advantage of the opportunities provided by the Friends Membership Scheme especially the unlimited free entry to paying exhibitions in the Millennium Gallery.
The support of the Friends has also enabled the Museums Sheffield to undertake additional special projects including purchasing new items for the collections and restoring key pieces of work. Recent projects, which could not have taken place without Friends generous support, include:
- the restoration of three key paintings of Sheffield for display in the Sheffield Life & Times Gallery in Weston Park
- the purchase of the nationally important Bill Brown collection of cutlery for the Metalwork Gallery in the Millennium Gallery
- the restoration of the Lady Coventry portrait by Cornelius Jonson
- the restoration of the portrait of Madame De Valentinois by Francois Clouet
Join the Friends and take an active part in supporting innovative fundraising projects, and enjoy excellent benefits for you, your friends and family.

Friends Celebratory Gala Evening - Weston Park
|
Sir Hugh Sykes, Chairman of the Museums Sheffield, welcomed over 250 Friends and guests to an evening of sparkle and entertainment at the Friends Weston Park Celebratory Gala event.
Friends enjoyed canapés, Bucks Fizz, music and the opportunity to explore the Museum at their own pace. Staff were on hand to answer any questions and a special Q & A session took place with Project Leader, Sally Manuireva, and Kim Streets, Head of Curation.
The Gala was a way of thanking all our Friends who have supported the Trust since the Museum's closure and to celebrate their fundraising successes. For the Museum the Friends have successfully reached the target to commission a playful automata machine and also to conserve the painting Sheffield and the Valley Don by E Price, which is currently on display in Sheffield Life & Times.
