Preparing for a workshop visit
Step 1
Choose one of the following workshop options for the morning session which will be led by a facilitator.
* Tudor Times
Become a detective and discover surprising and disgusting facts about everyday life in Sheffield 500 years ago.
* At Work with the Tudors
Help the owner of the house prepare for a visit from some wealthy strangers in this role play workshop.
* Tudor Revelry
Celebrate Christmas as a Tudor and help the owner prepare an Elizabethan revelry. This workshop only runs in November and December.

You will need to download and photocopy supporting activity sheets and guidelines for helpers. Download activity sheets. 400kb

Step 2
During a workshop, classes will be divided into two groups and part of the visit will be teacher led. Please familiarise yourself with the options available.Each activity takes approximately 15 - 20 minutes.
· Toys and games
· Quill writing
· Herb bag making
· Outside a Tudor house (Key Stage 1 and 2)
· Going to bed in Tudor Times (Key Stage 1)
· Comparing richer and poorer
· What did people wear?

Step 3
If you are staying for the afternoon you will need to select either one or two options from the following list. These sessions will again be led by a facilitator and will last for half an hour or one hour. You will also have some free time to continue the teacher-led activities.
· Pomander making
· Tudor exploration
· Circle and courtly dancing
· Preparing for a Tudor house raising
· Mary Queen of Scots
· Samuel Pepys and the Great Fire of London (Key Stage 1)

Step 4
You can book a half day or full day session.
Cost: £60 for a half day. Whole day £105

The workshop leader will contact you before the visit.
