Muesums Sheffield: Weston Park Learning introduction
Muesums Sheffield: Weston Park reopened on 14 October 2006. New displays, facilities, workshops and trails have been developed in consultation with teachers to create an experience that enriches classroom learning.

Discover, create, explore, enjoy

Museums Sheffield: Weston Park provides unique opportunities to see and touch real artefacts, try hands-on experiments, investigate genuine historical evidence and even observe live insects.
Flexible learning resources and guided visits help you deliver inspiring Science, History, Literacy and Art sessions before, during and after your visit.

Museums Sheffield: Weston Park has:
  • Three activity rooms providing perfect learning spaces for hands-on teaching sessions.
  • Specially trained staff to support your visit.
  • Effective teaching resources created with the help of local teachers. They will include workshops and museum trails, all available online for advance preparation of visits.
  • An indoor picnic space for groups bringing packed lunches.

Five new permanent display spaces encourage pupils exploration of the world around them.

  Pupils are able to:
  • Investigate local history using a variety of historical evidence.
  • Discover more about the people, the skills and the industry that have made Sheffield the vibrant city it is today.
  • Develop observation, identification and recording skills through exploration of Sheffields changing wildlife, weather and landscape. They can even observe live insects in the museums own Nature Lab.
  • Understand artists use of colour, symbols and meaning.
  • Get close-up to ancient treasures including a real Egyptian mummy, and learn why people attach value to different things.
  • Find out how and why the animals and people inhabiting the Arctic have adapted to their freezing homeland.

With the option to spend time both on self-guided visits and with specialist museum learning staff, there is plenty to keep pupils busy during a full day visit. It is essential that any group visits are prebooked.

Weston Park is free admission and open every day.
