From Australia to Burngreave (2005)![]() Anna Eden © Anna Eden I moved to Sheffield with my husband in July 2005. We have found a home and a community in Burngreave where we both now work. It has been a big adjustment coming to the UK from Australia! Of course the weather here is opposite to what we are used to and everything is smaller. But you can tell that there is a rich history here, everything looks like it was designed in a different era. I can imagine what it would have looked like hundreds of years ago with horse and carts rolling around the
I really enjoy the Burngreave area. We come from a very multicultural country so we are comfortable here. People have been very welcoming and we have made close friendships with a number of people. Working in the area as a Learning Assistant at the Burngreave Community Learning Campaign has given me fantastic opportunities to get to know people and the area a lot better. I think Burngreave is an exiting place to live, there is a lot happening in the area with community, education and regeneration. There is a buzz of change in the air and I think that a lot of people are committed to see Burngreave become a thriving community. I am very happy to be here. Written by Anna Eden, December 2006 |
